Michelle will be appearing as Erste Dame in Opera Theatre of the Rockies' production of Die Zauberflöte in February 2010.
Michelle Diggs, soprano, is recognized for possessing a voice of beauty, size, and clarity. Her triumphant performance of Liù in Opera Fort Collins’ production of Turandot “blew audiences away” (The Coloradoan ). On the concert stage, she appeared as the soprano soloist in Haydn’s The Creation with the Littleton Chorale and in a complete performance of Messiah with The Boulder Messiah Chorale and Orchestra. She has appeared in concert with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, Opera Theatre of the Rockies, the Longmont Symphony, the Vocal Arts Symposium, South Bay Youth Orchestra, the Rocky Mountain Center for the Musical Arts, and Passaggio Opera. In February 2010, Ms. Diggs will appear as Erste Dame in the Opera Theatre of the Rockies production of Die Zauberflöte.
Michelle has worked with noted directors such as Martile Rowland, Steven LaCosse, Todd Queen, and William Gustafson and collaborated with well-known conductors such as Robert Olson, James Albritten, Christopher Wilkins, and Wes Kenney. Ms. Diggs holds the Bachelor of Music degree in music performance from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her training continued at the University of Colorado where, while completing a Master of Music degree in voice performance, she was awarded the prestigious Berton Coffin and Barbara Doscher voice scholarships. Ms. Diggs has also been a District Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a finalist in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Voice Competition. Originally from the Los Angeles area, Ms. Diggs currently resides in Superior, Colorado with her husband, baritone, Bradley Thompson. She is currently an Affiliate Instructor of Voice at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
